I started working as a Quality Coach fresh out of University in October 2022, with only 2 years of work experience in tech support and without much testing knowledge. Being surrounded by Quality Coaches who had years of testing experience, I often questioned if I was the right fit or if I would ever excel in the role.
In the early days, I also read an article that said one cannot become a quality coach without any testing experience. At that time I agreed with that and it led me to feel very sceptical about delivering well in my role. Looking back on it now however, this statement lights a fire in me and I now wish to dispel this myth. Because quality coaching isn't just about testing!
In this talk, I will take you through my journey. I will share how I set and achieved learning goals to remove knowledge gaps within the team, built relationships with people in different roles and how my team, our ways of working and the Quality community (my cheerleaders) at the company supported me to ace the job.
This talk is intended for anyone who is considering a transition into quality coaching, or who may be facing impostor syndrome in their role. I aim to inspire and empower you to challenge conventional beliefs, embrace your unique background, and discover that the path to becoming a quality coach is far more accessible than you might initially believe.
