People in the agile world are often recommended to take a servant leadership approach, but what does this really mean? Is it really possible to lead and serve at the same time? Does this mean doing more admin?

Often the largest blocker in an agile transformation is the leadership or management behaviours. Well facilitated SCRUM ceremonies get us some progress, but as the saying goes, it’s people over process. In scaling a transformation at a global investment bank we found that awareness of servant leadership principles, and some practical techniques to get started, is a huge enabler for change agents looking to lead transformation. In the words of Steve Jobs “we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.”

This interactive introduction to servant leadership will enable reflection time on some core principles- including what it may feel like to lead and follow at the same time. A great one for anyone looking to get into the practicalities of servant leadership- whether to deepen their own understanding or to enable others to adopt.
